Position: Junior Researcher
AHRI invites qualified and motivated fresh graduates to apply for the position of Junior Researcher under the Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) Research Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct gDNA/RNA extractions from human blood and mosquito vectors.
- Perform conventional and advanced PCR.
- Conduct mosquito bisection and prepare for molecular analysis.
- Responsible for DBS punching and extraction.
- Prepare solutions for laboratory activities.
- Ensure proper storage of laboratory equipment and record-keeping.
- Assist with procurement requests and prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with researchers, data management teams, and lab logistics officers.
- Participate in field activities as required.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- BSc Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized university.
- Minimum GPA:
- 3.00 for male applicants.
- 2.75 for female applicants.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in mosquito collection, bisection, and rearing.
- Knowledge of molecular techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction.
Other Competencies:
- Skilled in routine molecular biology experiments.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
- Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, including with international collaborators.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
