The World Bank Ethiopia Country Office is looking to hire up to three (3) short-term consultants to support its energy sector engagement in Ethiopia. These positions are based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and are open to Ethiopian nationals.
The World Bank’s ongoing energy portfolio in Ethiopia includes various projects such as power sector reforms, electrification initiatives, solar mini grids, clean cooking solutions, and regional electricity interconnections.
Position 1: Investment Officer
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Finance, Economics, Agribusiness, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in project/program development, feasibility studies, investment banking, private equity, or fund management.
- Skills:
- Strong quantitative skills and financial modeling expertise.
- Experience in investment transactions, program management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships in multicultural environments.
- Fluency in English (strong written and verbal communication skills).

Position 2: Associate Investment Officer/Investment Officer
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: MBA or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years in corporate/project finance with a proven track record in investment sourcing, structuring, and closing.
- Skills:
- Expertise in complex debt and equity instruments, financial, credit, and equity skills.
- Experience with IFC’s Manufacturing, Agribusiness, Services, and Financial Institutions industries.
- Passion for sustainable development and impact investing.
- Fluency in English and other languages (Amharic, Somali, etc., is a plus).
- Excellent interpersonal, research, and client relationship management skills.
