Position: WASH Officer

Location: Waghimera – Sekota

Imagine1day International is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 by Chip and Summer Wilson. The organization focuses on transforming communities through education, child protection, gender-based violence prevention, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and transformational leadership. With operations across multiple regions in Ethiopia, Imagine1day has established over 1,105 partner schools, built 188 school buildings/learning centers, and reached over 817,000 children with education and protection services.

Position Overview:
The WASH Officer will be responsible for facilitating day-to-day WASH activities, including water scheme rehabilitation, sanitation facilities construction/maintenance, and hygiene promotion. The officer will train volunteers and community representatives, supervise sanitation and water quality management, and ensure compliance with Imagine1day’s guidelines and national standards. The role requires close monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of hygiene promotion in preventing waterborne diseases and maintaining community health.

Skill and Educational Background:

  • Education: BSc in Water Resource Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Environmental Health/Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of relevant WASH experience, with at least 3 years in an International NGO or similar organization. Experience in WASH project design, supervision, analysis, report writing, and cluster engagement is essential.
  • Other Competencies:
  • Training in Humanitarian Accountability Principles, Sphere Standards, WHO water quality guidelines, PSEA, Accountability to Affected People, Project Management, and Grants Report Writing.
  • Experience in community engagement, emergency WASH activities, and working with international NGOs or UN organizations.
  • Proficient in MS Office, database design, graphic presentation, and financial spreadsheet programs.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Amharic languages.
