Austrian Development Agency (ADA) Vacancy for Fresh Graduates


The Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), invites qualified and competent applicants to apply for the following vacant post. ADA is responsible for implementing all bilateral programs and projects in ADC’s partner countries on behalf of the Austrian government. Austrian Development Cooperation focuses on reducing poverty, conserving natural resources, and promoting peace and human security in all interventions. Ethiopia has been a priority country for the Austrian Development Cooperation since 1993, with project interventions aligned with Ethiopia’s national and local development strategies.

Position: Trainee

Location: Addis Ababa

Key Responsibilities:

  • Office Management Support:
  • Register and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Assist with office tasks such as photocopying, binding, and preparing documents.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist with calls on behalf of the office.
  • Keep up-to-date information on hotels, vehicle rentals, airfares, etc.
  • Provide organizational support for meetings and appointments.
  • Assist in preparing duty travel for staff members, including booking flights and hotels.
  • Help manage inventory and update the office’s inventory list.
  • Assist with office procurement and HR management tasks.
  • Petty Cash Management:
  • Handle petty cash and pay advances as per office regulations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date cash book and prepare monthly cash counts.
  • Communication, Knowledge Management & Documentation:
  • Support the communication team and assist with social media content preparation.
  • Assist with drafting communication input for the ADA intranet.
  • Help with photo selections and documentation for communication purposes.

Skill and Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields of study (e.g., Business Administration, Social Sciences, Finance and Accounting, or similar).
  • 6 months to 2 years of work experience in local or international organizations, including internships.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable personality with excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to learning and expanding knowledge base.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently and productively.
  • Very good command of spoken and written English.
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written Amharic and other major national languages.
