Position: Economic Empowerment Officer (EEO)

The Opportunity

Plan International Ethiopia is seeking a qualified Economic Empowerment Officer (EEO) to lead economic strengthening and income-generating activities (IGA) within its project fields. The EEO will collaborate with local government offices, community service providers, facilities (OSCs/PHCUs, schools, TVETs, police, law enforcement bodies), CSOs, and multisectoral cluster coordination at zonal and woreda levels. The position requires technical guidance and support from the SOYEE advisor and close collaboration with Plan International Ethiopia’s technical advisors on SRHR, Gender and Inclusion, cash specialist, MEAL Coordinator, SGBV specialist, program quality team, area managers, and operations team. The position is based at the Afar regional offices of Plan International Ethiopia.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI):

  • Understand and implement responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies, ensuring concerns are reported and managed according to procedures.
  • Ensure all staff have signed safeguarding policies.
  • Embed Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion into daily work.

About You

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Management, Business Administration, or Development Studies.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of demonstrated success in economic empowerment/strengthening projects, including IGAs (Income Generating Activities) for SGBV survivors.
