The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) invites qualified and competent applicants to apply for the following vacant position:

1. Human Rights Officer, Monitoring and Investigation

Location: Gambella City Office

Purpose of the Job:

Manage individual human rights complaints, plan, and implement monitoring of places of detention and emergencies, finalize reports, and issue recommendations. Develop and implement advocacy and follow-up strategy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage investigation of human rights complaints assigned.
  • Contribute to decisions in consultation with coordinators and Senior Human Rights Officers.
  • Conduct monitoring of places of detention and draft reports.
  • Conduct human rights monitoring during emergencies.
  • Issue recommendations and develop and implement advocacy and follow-up strategy.
  • Propose areas for systemic investigation and refer them to thematic functions in consultation with the Senior Human Rights Officer/Coordinator.
  • Manage partnerships and relationships with stakeholders.
  • Conduct research on human rights issues as appropriate.
  • Provide input on revisions of systems, policies, guidelines, manuals, and tools.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Number of Positions: 1

Reports to: Gambella City Office Head

Duration: Open/Indefinite

Salary Range: Gross monthly salary of ETB 22,989.00 – ETB 27,380.00 plus ETB 7,200.00 Housing allowance and ETB 2,200.00 Transport allowance, depending on candidates’ qualifications, experience, and earning history.
