Job Description:
Working in the finance unit under the direction of the Field Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant will handle day-to-day routine tasks. Responsibilities include producing reliable, accurate, and timely financial reports/information. The role requires a forward-looking, self-driven, critical thinker who can operate with minimal supervision. The post holder should be adaptable to systemic changes, able to train themselves, and quickly settle into new systems.
Skills and Educational Background:
- Experience:
- Three years of progressive experience in non-profit organizations, with at least two years in INGOs.
- Experience working with WFP and USAID/DFID grants.
- Education:
- Diploma/First Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- Technical Skills:
- Competency with computerized general ledger software.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
- Management and Organizational Skills:
- Prior management experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent oral and written English skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Success Factors:
- Confidence, self-starter, independent thinker with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; team-oriented.
- Good computer skills (especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- High professional standards and ethics; ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies.
