International Rescue Committee (IRC) Vacancy Announcement for Fresh Graduates

The International Rescue Committee (IRC), one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation, and development support to vulnerable people and communities in over 30 countries. IRC began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in the Somali region and currently provides assistance in six regions, implementing programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery, women’s protection, education, child protection, and emergency response.

1. Environmental Health Assistant

Skill and Educational Background:

  • Degree/Diploma in Water Supply Technician, Construction, Water Engineering, or related field from universities or Technical and Vocational Training Centers
  • 2 years of experience for diploma holders or 0-year work experience for first degree
  • A minimum of six months of IRC Internship service is a plus
  • NGO experience is a plus

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel)
  • Basic English spoken and written
  • Good communication and social skills

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the EH Officer in detailed activity implementation planning, BOQ preparation, and raising Purchase Requests for water supply and sanitation facilities.
  • Work closely with the local community and administration in setting up water supply and sanitation facilities.
  • Ensure the required quantity and quality of construction materials are delivered to sites.
  • Mobilize, coordinate, and manage labor, material, and equipment for construction/rehabilitation projects.
  • Provide technical skills in water supply and sanitation facilities construction.
  • Keep daily records of construction progress, material, and labor utilization.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Collect information while supervising the project’s progress and output.
  • Prepare completion reports and as-built drawings of completed facilities.
  • Support scheme handover and community sensitization.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
