Job Description:
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day cash office operations in accordance with the company’s policies and objectives.
- Receive cash/cheques from customers, salesmen, and credit controllers.
- Process receipts into customer accounts and cash/cheque holding accounts.
- Confirm and appropriately receipt all mobile money transfers to the company’s business account.
- Reconcile cash and cheque holding ledger accounts daily.
- Prepare and send daily banking documents of both cash and cheque receipts to the bank.
- Post daily banking transactions from cash and cheque holding accounts into bank accounts.
- Prepare daily reports on cash and cheque receipts and banking schedules.
- Ensure petty cash is maintained at the authorized maximum limit daily and promptly requisition each reimbursement.
- Authorize and make payments of petty cash claims.
- Process petty cash claims through the ledger, including all required details for expense analysis.
- Prepare daily reports on petty cash balance and reconcile to the ledger.
- Write supplier cheques and prepare telegraphic transfers as per authorized cheque requisitions.
- Issue signed cheques to suppliers and maintain the cheques register.
- Keep all customer postdated cheques in the safe and maintain a report for all postdated cheques.
- Confirm funds receipts from customers into the banks and advise Credit Control accordingly.
- Keep all unused cheques and LPOs and make proper account of them.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Educational Background:
Educational Requirements:
- University degree in Finance or Accounting from a reputable institution.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in computer use, especially Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic accounting skills.
