Islamic Relief is an international relief and development charity founded in 1984 with its headquarters in Birmingham, UK. Operating in Ethiopia since 2004, Islamic Relief Ethiopia (IRE) has offices in various regions including Somali Regional State, Afar Regional State, Oromia Regional State, and Addis Ababa.

1: Cashier

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting.
  • Experience: At least 2 or 3 years of experience, preferably in an NGO environment.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Proven experience in cash management, preferably in development organizations.
  • Ability to work with financial software; knowledge of AX Dynamics ERP system is an advantage.
  • Excellent IT skills, including MS Office applications.

2: Water Technician

Duty Station: Afar Regional State, Zone-2 (Abala), and Zone-4 (Ewa) Woreda

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma in water technology, electromechanical works, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the implementation of water projects, preferably in emergency WASH projects within humanitarian, NGO, or Government organizations.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Proven knowledge of water works, construction management, and emergency response activities.
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and CAD.
  • Fluency in Afari language is mandatory.
  • Good written and spoken English.

3: Hygiene and Sanitation Officer

Duty Station: Afar Regional State, Zone-2 (Abala), and Zone-4 (Ewa) Woreda

Qualifications:

  • Education: University Degree in Rural Sanitation, Environmental Health Science, Public Health, Health Education and Promotion, Community Health, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, preferably with international agencies or NGOs.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Knowledge of public health, health or hygiene promotion, community development, education, and community mobilization.
  • Design, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong influencing and networking abilities.
  • Fluency in Afar language is mandatory.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and databases.
  • Ability to work in stressful conditions and independently with minimal supervision.

4: Emergency WASH Officer

Duty Station: Afar Regional State, Zone-2 (Abala) and Zone-4 (Ewa) Woreda

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources Management, Hydraulics, Environmental Science, or related disciplines.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in NGO setups.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Skills in design preparation, bill of quantities, and specifications.
  • Project planning, design, implementation, and M&E abilities.
  • Proposal and report writing skills.
  • Management, people coaching, mentoring, and supervisory skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relations with diverse teams.
  • Training and capacity-building experience.
