1. Finance Intern
Location: Hawassa, Ethiopia
Job Summary:
The Finance Intern will support project staff in facilitating cash payments for various activities, ensuring smooth and successful implementation of project activities according to Save the Children’s standards, government, and donor requirements. The role focuses on recovery, emergency, and humanitarian programming but also supports development settings as needed.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collect, disburse, and control petty cash fund.
- Collect funds and make various payments per authorization and approval of Budget Holders.
- Maintain and handle petty cash, prepare cash reports, and ensure timely replenishment.
- Prepare payment vouchers (cash and cheque payments) per approved payment requests.
- Maintain bank and cash records electronically or manually.
- Ensure timely settlement of office bills and taxes.
- Assist the Finance Officer in handling financial transactions and documentation.
- Maintain and account for loans and working advances, following up on repayments.
- Make payments at the field level for different activities when necessary.
- Effect staff salary upon obtaining approval and certification from payroll sheets.
- Ensure compliance with Save the Children’s financial management policy.
Skills and Educational Background:
- Education: Diploma or BA in Accounting.
- Experience: At least 1 year for Diploma holders; 0 years for BA holders.
- Skills:
- Very good interpersonal skills.
- Very good spoken English.
- Computer skills.
- Proficiency in Afaan Oromoo language is compulsory.
- Commitment: Alignment with Save the Children’s values, mission, and principles.
