Position: Finance Officer
Key Areas of Accountability:
- Prepare bank payment vouchers for approved payments and process the transactions.
- Ensure timely payment to suppliers/vendors and maintain legal receipts for all payments.
- Handle and maintain proper petty cash records/registers for the field office.
- Prepare petty cash payment vouchers and effect payments within approved limits.
- Monitor timely settlement of staff work and travel advances.
- Accurately code all transactions using the chart of account classification.
- Collect and deposit cash collections into the bank account.
- Safeguard petty cash funds, cheques, bid bonds, and other financial documents.
- Prepare General Ledger and Cash Offline Spreadsheet (GLACOS) for review and posting.
- Maintain proper documentation and scanning of all financial documents.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (can be in progress).
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an NGO.
- Familiarity with payments departments and accounting systems.
- Experience with Agresso Financial Management software and major donor projects is an asset.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; knowledge of accounting software preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Commitment to Save the Children’s values, including rights-based approaches.
- Proficiency in English and Amharic; knowledge of Afar language is advantageous.
