The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is an autonomous federal government office accountable to the Federal Ministry of Health. Established under Regulation No. 301/2013, EPHI conducts research, implements projects, and serves as a hub for public health initiatives.


Open Positions:

1. Project/Admin Office Assistant

  • Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Effective office management.
    • Implementation of projects to accomplish the directorate’s vision and mission.
  • Qualifications & Experience:
    • Education: BSc in Computer Science or IT, or Diploma in IT.
    • Experience: Minimum 6 years for BSc or 10 years for Diploma in office/project management or related activities.
    • Proven experience as an office manager or project assistant.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer-based management solutions.
    • Fluency in English and Amharic.
  • Location: Addis Ababa
  • Required No.: 1
  • Duration: 1 year, with possible extension

2. HIV Counsellor and Interviewer

  • Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Provide counselling services to HIV/AIDS bio-behavioral survey participants.
  • Qualifications & Experience:
    • Education: BSc in Health Sciences (nursing, midwifery, public health, medical lab) or Social Sciences.
    • Experience: 6+ years in HIV testing, counselling, and ART care provision.
    • Training in HIV testing and counselling.
    • Fluency in local languages is an advantage.
  • Location: Bahir Dar, Dilla, Harar, Dessie, Jimma, Mizan Aman (priority for female candidates).
  • Required No.: 24 (2 counsellors and 2 interviewers per site).
  • Duration: 3 months, with possible extension

3. Laboratory Technologist

  • Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Manage and test biological specimens using rapid test kits.
  • Qualifications & Experience:
    • Education: BSc or above in Medical Laboratory.
    • Experience: 6+ years in laboratory testing and specimen management.
    • Knowledge of HIV rapid testing procedures and virological testing.
    • Fluency in local languages is an advantage.
  • Location: Bahir Dar, Dilla, Harar, Dessie, Jimma, Mizan Aman (priority for female candidates).
  • Required No.: 6 (1 per site).
  • Duration: 3 months, with possible extension

4. Survey Supervisor

  • Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Supervise and coordinate bio-behavioral surveys, including tool development and data analysis.
  • Qualifications & Experience:
    • Education: MPH/MSc in Public Health.
    • Experience: 8+ years in survey design, data analysis, and technical report writing.
    • Knowledge of bio-behavioral surveys and respondent-driven sampling.
    • Fluency in local languages is an advantage.
  • Location: Bahir Dar, Dilla, Harar, Dessie, Jimma, Mizan Aman.
  • Required No.: 6 (1 per site).
  • Duration: 3 months, with possible extension

5. Coupon Manager

  • Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Manage respondent-driven sampling (RDS) coupons and data organization.
  • Qualifications & Experience:
    • Education: BSc in Bioinformatics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or IT.
    • Experience: 6+ years in data management and RDS coupon management.
    • Proficient in database software (Excel, Access) and survey tools (ODK).
    • Fluency in local languages is an advantage.
  • Location: Bahir Dar, Dilla, Harar, Dessie, Jimma, Mizan Aman (priority for female candidates).
  • Required No.: 6 (1 per site).
  • Duration: 3 months, with possible extension

Salary:

Based on the Institute’s contract payment scale.
