EthioChicken is a leading poultry production company in East Africa, operating under the brand umbrella of EthioChicken. The company, comprising AGP Poultry PLC, Mekelle Farms Ltd, and Andasa Poultry PLC, focuses on producing and selling improved breeds of chickens to smallholder farmers across rural Ethiopia. Currently managing eight poultry breeder farms and two feed mill production plants in four regions, EthioChicken aims to expand significantly in the future.
Position: Breeding Officer
Job Summary:
The Breeding Officer ensures high productivity and livability of breeders to maximize company profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation & Maintenance:
- Clean and disinfect poultry houses.
- Set up and prepare equipment and materials (windows, feeders, brooders, etc.) before chick arrival.
- Inspect and weigh chicks, ensuring weak chicks receive special care.
- Daily Operations:
- Monitor room temperature, humidity, and litter quality.
- Administer vaccinations as per schedule.
- Record and report chick mortality, weight, and weekly uniformity.
- Ensure chick uniformity is at least 80% through grading and care.
- Maintenance & Biosecurity:
- Conduct regular maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Implement and improve biosecurity measures.
- Ensure eggs sent to hatcheries meet quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of production houses.
- Reporting & Management:
- Maintain records of egg production, mortality, and breeder performance.
- Identify training needs and provide coaching to staff.
- Prepare weekly egg reconciliation reports.
- Assist in staff evaluations and performance management.
Job Requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Veterinary Medicine.
- Experience: Open to fresh graduates.
- Required Number: 5
- Location: Amhara Region, Oromia Region, Tigray Region, and Southern Ethiopia Regional State.
