Logistics Officer NOB (Transport)

Reporting To: International Deputy Head of Operations — Downstream
Contract Type: National Officer Level B

Purpose and Background:

This position involves planning and coordinating WFP’s commercial transport operations to ensure effective delivery of food assistance across Ethiopia. With the current food insecurity and challenging security situation, WFP provides assistance to over 4.7 million beneficiaries in Ethiopia, necessitating a robust supply chain strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage operational planning for inland and overland transport, including allocations for WFP Fleet and commercial transporters.
  • Supervise supply chain staff, set objectives, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Ensure efficient transport within the WFP supply chain network, including complex regions.
  • Develop and manage logistics plans, conduct data analysis, and provide recommendations for optimizing transport operations.
  • Maintain compliance with WFP logistics policies and support capacity-building efforts.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Education: Advanced university degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, or related field, or first university degree with additional years of related experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years in logistics or transportation operations within a humanitarian organization or private sector, including team management.
  • Skills: Proficiency in managing logistics operations, knowledge of transport market trends, familiarity with customs processes, and experience with corporate systems.

Languages: Fluency in English and Amharic, both oral and written.
