About UNDP in Ethiopia
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been working in Ethiopia since 1981, supporting the country’s development goals across poverty reduction, economic growth, democratic governance, and climate-resilient development. As part of its Country Programme Document (CPD 2020-2025), UNDP aims to strengthen Ethiopia’s capacity to transition into a democratic, peaceful, and prosperous middle-income nation while fostering gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Intern – Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
Objective:
The internship provides an opportunity for motivated and independent graduate-level students to acquire direct exposure to UNDP’s work, focusing on results-based planning, monitoring, and evaluation in the Climate Resilient Environmental Sustainability Unit (CRES).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and reviewing project log frames and results frameworks.
- Support the creation and implementation of project M&E plans.
- Monitor physical and financial project implementation in line with UNDP standards.
- Collect and analyze project data to track performance against targets.
- Verify and report project outputs and progress.
- Contribute to project reporting processes, including donor and progress reports.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing activities and facilitate data entry in risk registries.
- Draft project documents or concept notes based on lessons learned.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the unit.

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Enrollment in (or recent graduation from) a postgraduate program in Economics, Business Management, Public Administration, Project Management, or related fields.
- Recent graduates must begin their internship within one year of graduation.
Experience:
- No prior professional work experience is required.
- Interest or academic focus in climate and environment-related areas is advantageous.
Languages:
- Fluency in oral and written English and Amharic is required.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and software applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural environments.
