Haramaya University invites qualified and competent applicants to apply for the following position:


Position: Accountant (ACC)

Location:

  • Harar, Ethiopia

Job Details:

  • Responsible to: Project Manager
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Number of Positions: 1
  • Contract Duration: 1 year, with possible extension
  • Salary: 29,055 ETB per month

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project budgets, align with funding rules, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Monitor financial performance, prepare reports, and alert project leaders on any deviations.
  • Work closely with partners and the university’s finance department, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Review payment requests and disbursements, and ensure expenses align with project agreements.
  • Participate in financial statements preparation, and assist in implementing internal controls.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • MA in Accounting and Finance or MBA (Bachelor’s degree must be in Accounting) with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Or a BA Degree in Accounting with 6 years of experience in NGO, project, or government finance.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Word, Windows, and Excel.
  • Ability to compose professional communication and manage financial records.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in finance roles within NGOs or project environments.
  • Integrity, honesty, and a strong service orientation.
