Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is inviting qualified and competent applicants to apply for the following vacant position.

1. Program Assistant

Location: Addis Ababa, Head Office
Report to: Senior Director, Program and Partnership
Duration: Open/Indefinite

Purpose of the Job:

To provide program and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the Department. The Program Assistant will support the Director through various office organization and communication tasks and will be responsible for handling confidential and time-sensitive materials.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the Director’s calendar, including scheduling appointments, meetings, and conference calls.
  • Support the coordination of logistics for events, workshops, training, etc.
  • Arrange travel itineraries, flights, hotel accommodations, and other travel needs for the Director and the team.
  • Draft and edit correspondence, communications, presentations, and other documents on behalf of the Director and the team.
  • Produce and distribute correspondence, memos, letters, faxes, and forms to the respective offices.
  • Secure signatures and track documents through the approval process.
  • Handle phone calls and guests visiting the office.
  • Assist the Director with various projects, including employee onboarding and staff communication.
  • Prepare agendas, briefing materials, and presentations for meetings.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure adequate supplies of office stationery.
  • Handle purchase requisitions for materials, supplies, equipment, and repairs.
  • Maintain up-to-date record-keeping and filing systems for the directorate/unit.

Salary Range:
Gross monthly salary of ETB 9,102.00 – ETB 10,537 plus ETB 3,600.00 Housing allowance and ETB 2,200.00 Transport allowance, depending on candidates’ qualification, experience, and earning history.

Skill and Educational Background:

  • Education: BA Degree or Level 4 Diploma in Management, Administration, Secretarial Science and Office Management, or related fields.
  • Experience:
  • 2 years of relevant experience with a BA Degree.
  • 4 years of relevant experience with a Diploma.
  • Experience in event management, travel, and logistics is a strong plus.
  • Computer Literacy: Required.
  • Language Proficiency: Knowledge of Amharic is required; knowledge of other local languages is advantageous.
