1. Administrative Assistant

Key Functions, Accountabilities, and Related Duties/Tasks:
- Events/Logistics:
- Supports capacity development activities and conferences by handling logistical arrangements, including coordination with facilitators, caterers, and hosts.
- Transport Management:
- Facilitates office transport management, responds to booking requests in the UN Humanitarian hub, and prepares monthly fuel and maintenance reports for vehicles.
- Supplies/Equipment:
- Manages administrative supplies and office equipment, updates inventory, and ensures adequate and appropriate use of supplies.
- Ensures services and maintenance of premises meet organizational standards.
- Arranges for the purchase and timely distribution of office supplies.
- Premise and Facility Management:
- Regularly inspects office buildings to identify maintenance needs.
- Oversees basic services and repairs of electrical systems and generators across UNICEF premises.
Educational Background:
- Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the field of work.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant administrative or clerical work experience.
- A first-level university degree in a related field will be considered in lieu of three (3) years of required work experience.
- An advanced university degree in a related field will be considered in lieu of four (4) years of required work experience.
Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Technical knowledge of generator and electrical maintenance.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English and the local language of the duty station is required.
- Knowledge of the local language is an asset.

2. Education Officer – STEP for Girls and Learning
- Location: Hawassa, Semera, Oromia, and Gambella
- Contract Type: Temporary Appointment
Key Functions, Accountabilities, and Related Duties/Tasks:
- Programme Support:
- Provide inputs to strengthen the STEP for Girls and Learning data collection, analysis, monitoring, and reporting system.
- Analyze data from multiple sources to identify child deprivations related to education indicators outlined in the STEP for Girls and Learning Programme.
- Draft and review periodic reports, programme monitoring, and reviews for timely submission.
- Prepare and update the repository for information for field visits, including photo collections and human-interest stories showcasing programme effectiveness.
- Capacity Building:
- Spend at least 40% of working time enhancing the capacity of the Regional Education Bureau (REB), target Woreda Education Offices, and Schools to improve quality education delivery.
- Advise REB and STEP target Woreda on financing, budgeting, disbursement of funds, and distribution of supplies, ensuring proper administration in accordance with government financial procedures.
- Support the capacity of WEOs to strengthen data collection, analysis, documentation, and reporting functions.
- Innovation and Knowledge Management:
- Collaborate with STEP Programme Management Office (PMO) and UNICEF staff to implement innovative systems and solutions for better monitoring of programs and expenditure tracking.
- Strengthen the capacity of PTSAs to advocate for quality education, particularly for children with disabilities and girls.
- Support the preparation and dissemination of Human-Interest Stories (HIS) at various levels.
- Coordinate field missions and facilitate donor and media visits.
Educational Background:
- A University degree or higher in Education, Educational Planning and Management, Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
Work Experience:
- At least two years of professional experience at the national and regional levels in curriculum development, pedagogy, teacher education, social development, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Familiarity with working in government, UN agencies, and/or NGOs is an advantage.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
- Knowledge of the local language of the duty station is an added asset.
