JSI is a public health organization dedicated to improving the health of people and communities in more than 70 countries. With nearly 40 years of global experience, JSI has been working in Ethiopia since 1994, partnering with the government and local civil society organizations to support the country’s health and development priorities. JSI operates across all regions of Ethiopia, focusing on the most populous regions to reach the largest population groups.
1. Health Information System (HIS) Intern
- Location: Addis Ababa
- Purpose of Internship: The HIS internship equips candidates with knowledge and skills in Ethiopian health information design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The intern will gain insight into various health information sources and tools, practical experience in data quality assurance mechanisms, and understanding the role of HIS governance in strengthening the health system.
- Responsibilities:
- Assess interventions to improve data quality and data use practices.
- Review Ethiopian health management information system documents.
- Conduct data quality reviews, extract and analyze data from DHIS2.
- Participate in relevant workshops and field activities.
- Qualification:
- Fresh Bachelor’s degree in Health Systems, Health Policy, Public Health, Health Informatics, or related disciplines with a minimum GPA of 3.50.
- No professional experience required.
- Internship is open only to young female professionals.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- English fluency required; Amharic proficiency is an advantage.
- Duration: 9 months

2. Digital Health Intern
- Location: Addis Ababa
- Purpose of Internship: The Digital Health Internship provides hands-on experience in digital health initiatives, including the development, standardization, and governance of digital tools used in public health programs.
- Responsibilities:
- Engage in various digital health projects.
- Enhance skills in data management, analysis, and reporting.
- Contribute to the advancement of Ethiopia’s Health Information Systems.
- Qualification:
- Fresh degree graduate in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.50.
- No professional experience required.
- Internship is open only to young female professionals.
- Proficiency in programming and data management software.
- English fluency required; Amharic proficiency is an advantage.
- Duration: 9 months
- Deadline: August 18, 2024
3. Gender Mainstreaming Intern
- Location: Addis Ababa
- Purpose of Internship: The Gender Internship aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience in gender integration within Health Information Systems (HIS) and Digital Health (DH).
- Responsibilities:
- Gain hands-on experience in gender-related initiatives in the health sector.
- Contribute to the Women Data Champions initiative.
- Participate in gender integration efforts at DUP and MOH.
- Qualification:
- Fresh Bachelor’s degree in Health Systems, Health Policy, Public Health, or related disciplines with a minimum GPA of 3.50.
- No professional experience required.
- Internship is open only to young female professionals.
- Strong interest in gender issues and HIS.
- English fluency required; Amharic proficiency is an advantage.
- Duration: 9 months
- Deadline: August 20, 2024
