Position: Child Protection Assistant
Skill and Educational Background:
- Education: BA/Diploma graduate in Social Studies.
- Experience:
- 0-year experience for BA holders.
- 2 years of relevant work experience for Diploma holders.
- Skills:
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of procedural and systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong analytic problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to manage and work through change proactively and positively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in assessing the living conditions of children in IDP/Returnee community centers.
- Support community leaders and government sector focal persons in monitoring, verifying, and documenting child protection cases.
- Follow up on the preparation and implementation of case action plans and conduct group awareness-raising and outreach programs.
- Facilitate and coordinate appropriate care arrangements and alternative care systems.
- Support child rights clubs in promoting child protection concerns and participation.
- Organize and facilitate child protection awareness-raising sessions and psychosocial support activities at the Safe Healing and Learning Space (SHLS).
- Participate in conducting Best Interest Assessments to ensure children’s needs are addressed.
- Adhere to the Child Protection code of conduct.
- Carry out data entry into the Child Protection Information System (CP IMS) and GBVIMS database.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested by supervisors.
Language Skills:
- Mandatory: English (speaking and writing).
- Advantageous: Local language (Fluent spoken and written Afan Oromo).
