1. Junior Finance Officer
Location: Jinka, Ethiopia
Salary: $4,739 – $6,397
Job Summary:
The Junior Finance Officer will support the Jinka Zonal Coordinator by handling financial tasks such as cash payments, data registration, financial data reconciliation, and other financial support activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining proper financial policies, procedures, and systems at the field office.
- Ensure compliance with local laws, donor regulations, and internal policies for all financial transactions.
- Maintain custody of petty cash and keep accurate cash register records.
- Prepare petty cash payment vouchers, obtain approvals, and process payments.
- Coordinate per diem and other payments related to workshops and training sessions.
- Record financial transactions in SAGE accounting software.
- Maintain an organized filing system for financial documents.
- Prepare and pay income and withholding taxes on time.
- Monitor travel and work advances to ensure timely settlement as per USAID and EngenderHealth’s standards.
- Assist in preparing monthly expense reports for the Central Office.
- Liaise with banks for processing CPOs, drafts, and collecting bank statements.
- Work with the Finance and Administration Officer in budget and report preparation.
- Collaborate with the Borena Office to monitor regional activity plans and prepare BVA reports.
- Assist in coordinating year-end audits for region-specific requests.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Accounting.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience; NGO experience is preferred.
- Training: Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations or related experience managing USAID-funded projects is required.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and SAGE-X3 accounting software is highly preferred.
- Language: Good command of English.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
