Project: Forests for Future (F4F) – Climate Change Cluster
Job Description:
The Forests4Future (F4F) project is part of a global initiative supporting the AFR100 commitments of countries including Ethiopia. The F4F Ethiopia project focuses on rehabilitating degraded terrestrial ecosystems to strengthen landscape resilience and improve community well-being.
Internship Duration:
- Start Date: October 1, 2024
- End Date: December 30, 2024
- Possible extension until March 31, 2025
Internship Responsibilities:
- School Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR):
- Provide technical guidance and coaching on FLR implementation.
- Assist in planning and organizing environmental projects like clean-up drives and tree planting.
- Develop environmental educational materials and organize peer-to-peer exchanges.
- Facilitate environmental events and advise school staff to align club activities with extra-curricular activities.
- Document and report activities to the technical team.
- Project Data Management Support:
- Assist in developing data collection templates and translating them into Amharic when needed.
- Accompany field experts during data collection activities and support georeferenced data collection and GIS compilation.
- Help organize and compile data into structured reports.
- Event Organization and Facilitation:
- Assist in event logistics, take attendance, and document training evaluations.
- Support the team with communication and facilitation during events, including Amharic translations when needed.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Support communication between partners and service providers.
- Take on responsibilities during team absences and contribute to drafting communication products.
- Collaborate with the program team as needed to support project success.
Skill and Educational Background:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within the last year) from a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, or Rural Development.
- Previous involvement in school clubs or experience working with schools is an asset.
- Strong Amharic and English language skills, both verbal and written.
- Interest in forest landscape restoration, development cooperation, and open-mindedness.
- Stress tolerance and dedication to work.
