REACH Ethiopia Vacancy Announcement: Finance Officer

Brief Organizational Introduction and Project Overview:
Organic Health Care Service (OHCS) is a non-profit local organization registered as a Local CSO charity on August 20, 2019. Established by former MDR TB patients and health professionals, OHCS focuses on TB prevention and control programs. Currently, in collaboration with REACH Ethiopia, OHCS is implementing the USAID-Urban TB LON-II project. This project aims to address the urban tuberculosis (TB) challenge in Ethiopia, focusing on the city administrations of Addis Ababa, Shaggar, Harar, and Dire Dawa. The project seeks to identify missed TB cases, deliver patient-centered care, and foster innovative solutions to combat TB, aiming to reduce TB prevalence and mortality in urban environments.

The Role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer will assist in preparing cash flow forecasts, annual budgets, and financial reports. Responsibilities include financial management, reconciliation of financial and inventory records, preparation of payment documents, and ensuring all payment documents have supporting documents before processing. The role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in budget preparation
  • Managing records and receipts
  • Reconciling daily, monthly, and yearly transactions
  • Preparing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow
  • Preparing bank reconciliations
  • Processing invoices
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of organizational products and processes
  • Providing customer service to clients
  • Resolving financial disputes raised by customer service and sales teams
  • Being a key contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters
  • Supporting the Finance Manager and executives with projects and tasks
  • Tracking bank deposits and payments
  • Reviewing and implementing financial policies
  • Ensuring prompt and timely payment of all suppliers
  • Inputting and reconciling direct payments
  • Investigating and responding to supplier queries
  • Maintaining accurate files to support the purchase ledger
  • Posting transactions on Peachtree accounting software
  • Assisting Finance Manager in payroll preparation and other payments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, with at least 3 years in a similar role
  • NGO work experience is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes
  • Outstanding analytical and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
