Mercy Corps has been active in Ethiopia since 2004, working with government, the private sector, and civil society to enhance resilience in climate and conflict-affected communities. Our strategy focuses on:

The Department:
The People and Culture (P&C) department provides effective HR policies and support within Mercy Corps Ethiopia, focusing on talent acquisition and development, employee engagement, training, compensation and benefits, performance management, staff data management, and more.

General Position Summary:

The P&C intern will support various HR functions to enhance employee engagement, development, and satisfaction. Responsibilities include assisting in recruitment, onboarding processes, maintaining HR records, and supporting initiatives that promote a positive work environment and foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This internship provides valuable exposure to HR operations and the crucial role HR plays in organizational success.

Skill and Educational Background:

  • Education:
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Management, Human Resource Management, Law, or related social sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Recent graduates from 2023 and 2024 without prior work experience are welcome to apply.
  • Attributes:
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of Human Resource Management.
  • Good organizational abilities with attention to detail.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Genuine interest in human relations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in basic HR principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Skill in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).
  • Accuracy in data management and document preparation.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and ethical standards in HR.
