Position: Young Women Internship
Location: Addis Ababa, with the possibility of field travel
Duration: Three months, with the possibility of an extension for additional months
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: One year contract with the possibility of extension

Salary: Scale with negotiation

About CEHRO:

The Consortium of Ethiopian Human Rights Organizations (CEHRO) is a consortium of 30 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working on human rights, democracy, and peacebuilding. Registered under the Civil Society Organization Proclamation No. 1113/2011 with Registration No. 3932, CEHRO aims to promote the protection of human rights, improve the culture of democracy and peacebuilding, serve as a common platform for members, and initiate evidence-based advocacy. Additionally, CEHRO works to strengthen the capacity of existing and new human rights CSOs.

Job Description:

This internship offers a great opportunity for students and recent graduates interested in human rights. Interns will work on various projects, including researching human rights issues, writing reports and articles, organizing events and workshops, and conducting advocacy campaigns.

Educational Background and Skills:

  • Education:
  • Recent graduates or within a year after graduation, or Master’s class students in law, social science, political science, international relations, journalism, or other relevant fields.
  • Competencies:
  • Communication skills: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively, listens to others, interprets messages correctly, responds appropriately, asks questions to clarify, and shows interest in two-way communication.
  • Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
  • Remains calm, in control, and good-humored under pressure.
  • Diplomatic skills and ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Upholds accountability and integrity of the organization.
  • Demonstrated extensive social media experience is an added advantage.
  • Proven advocacy, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher).

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Amharic, English, and other local languages.
