FAWE Vacancy Announcement

The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is a membership-based pan-African Non-Governmental Organisation that operates through 34 National Chapters in sub-Saharan Africa to promote girls’ and women’s education. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

Position 1: Communication Associate

Job Summary:
The Communication Associate will support the development, coordination, and execution of the communication strategy. The role includes managing the organization’s communications, media work, and preparing advocacy packages.

Main Duties:

  • Manage daily communication activities through the organizational website, Facebook, and other media pages.
  • Establish a communication and media unit.
  • Facilitate networking, partnership building, and fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain relationships with media to promote the organization’s image.
  • Produce newsletters, case studies, success stories, and other printed and audiovisual materials.
  • Participate in field visits, prepare reports, and document stories.
  • Monitor and respond to feedback from media and the public.
  • Develop public relations materials to increase visibility among stakeholders and lawmakers.
  • Prepare and supervise publicity materials.
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Job Requirement:

  • BA degree in Communications, Public Information, International Relations, Computer Science, English Language and Literature, Journalism/Mass Media/Communications, or related fields.
  • 0-2 years of experience.

Position 2: Administrative Associate

Job Description:
The Administrative Associate will support effective day-to-day administrative functions, drafting documents, policies, and reports.

Key Result Areas:

  • Draft and write various administrative reports and policies.
  • Support procurement and maintain inventory records.
  • Develop administrative process improvements in the ERP system.
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Book air tickets and manage travel itineraries.
  • Coordinate reservations and catering for meetings.
  • Manage requisition of office utilities.

Competencies Required:

  • A university degree in Secretarial, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and accuracy in attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Reports to: WASRO Coordinator

Person Specification:

  • Smart, presentable, confident, and well-spoken.
  • Team player with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.

Position 3: Database Associate

Job Description:
The Database Associate is responsible for developing, maintaining, and upgrading databases, supporting data collection, analysis, and IT-related tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain project-specific databases.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry.
  • Support Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and field staff in data collection.
  • Check data quality and mentor field staff.
  • Ensure proper filing of data.
  • Develop and maintain database structures.
  • Implement backup, restore, data validation, and security procedures.
  • Perform data analysis and visualization.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, MIS, or a related field (graduate degree preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills and demonstrated information management skills.
  • Strong organizational and IT skills.
  • Functional English communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task calmly and professionally.
