About Action Against Hunger:
Action Against Hunger is an international, non-governmental humanitarian organization that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger through implementing relief and development programs globally. Established in 1979, Action Against Hunger has been leading the global fight against hunger for over 40 years in more than 50 countries, saving children’s lives and working with communities before and after disasters to enable self-sufficiency and prosperous communities.
About the Country Program in Ethiopia:
Action Against Hunger’s Ethiopia country office was established in 1985 in response to severe drought and subsequent famine. It operates in six regions of Ethiopia (Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Gambella, Somali, Oromia, and Tigray) and Addis Ababa city administration. The organization responds to different crises and builds people’s resilience through a multi-sectoral strategy integrating nutrition, food security and livelihoods, WASH, and mental health and psychosocial support activities. With over 900 staff in Ethiopia, the main donors in 2023/24 include BHA, ECHO, EU RESET, UNHCR, UNICEF, and others.
