The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is inviting applications for the fully funded UN Biodiversity Conference in Cali, Colombia, set to take place from October 21, 2024, to November 1, 2024. This opportunity is for journalists to cover the 16th UN Biodiversity Conference of Parties (COP16). Selected participants will arrive on October 19th and depart on November 2nd, 2024. EJN will cover various expenses to support the fellows.

Financial Benefits
EJN will select 5 fellows for an in-person fellowship and will cover:
- Economy class airfare tickets
- Accommodation
- Ground transportation
- Medical insurance
- Visa costs
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must:
- Be professional journalists working for established media outlets in low- or middle-income countries (classification can be checked online).
- Work in any medium (online, print, television, radio).
- Be freelance reporters or staff from any type of media organization.
- Have experience reporting on biodiversity issues.
- Have a story idea about the impacts of biodiversity loss for COP16.
- Be available to travel to Cali, Colombia from October 19th to November 2nd, 2024.
- Be fluent in English.

- Letter of support from an editor or supervisor confirming your reporting will be published. Freelancers need a letter from a media outlet they plan to work with.
- Work samples on biodiversity issues (from the past year) with English summaries (if not in English).
