Job Announcement: International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) – Internship Opportunities

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) invites qualified and competent applicants to apply for the following vacant internship position:


1. Internship (Engineering Facility and Projects Unit)

Location: Addis Ababa

About the Position:

ILRI’s engineering unit seeks a reliable and efficient intern with strong organizational and communication skills. The intern will be involved in supervision tasks, generating weekly reports on campus landscape conditions, and integrating data into the service desk system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Connect with people, regularly communicate, and coordinate project activities internally.
  • Conduct on-site visits to check campus landscape maintenance and report to engineering supervisors weekly.
  • Update space charge database monthly and report to the engineering supervisor.
  • Supervise and inspect planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance works on site.
  • Collect facility building information for integration into the new ticketing system.
  • Assist in measuring and allocating space within buildings.
  • Enter data into the new ticketing system, including work orders and classifications.
  • Liaise with supervisors to obtain PPM data for the new system.
  • Assist in training and supporting staff members on the new ticketing system.
  • Document the new ticketing system, including user manuals and technical documentation.

Skill and Educational Background:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate university degree program in Architecture, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering.
  • Drawing skills and familiarity with design software (Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp, 3D Max, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, or similar).
  • Good communication and maintenance inspection skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.

Location: ILRI Addis Ababa – Ethiopia

Duration: 3 months

Terms of Appointment:

  • A monthly stipend to cover day-to-day living expenses.
  • Medical insurance for the internship duration.
