1. Senior MEAL Officer

Location: Gonder, Ethiopia

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Gonder program manager, the Senior Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEAL) Officer will assist in the development and rollout of tools for effective data management across all technical sectors and sites. The officer will be the focal point for assisting technical managers in M&E, accountability, and learning aspects of projects in Gonder, building the capacity of field staff in using data management tools and reporting templates. The officer will also ensure timely compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements.

Skills and Educational Background:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Statistics, Demography, Public Health with M&E experience, or related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation of programs, preferably with a non-government organization.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian accountability and current accountability initiatives.
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Familiarity with research and data collection methods and statistical tools such as SPSS, EpiInfo, SMART, STAT 01 (at least two).
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the project area is required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Fully computer literate with knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications.

2. WASH Engineer

Location: Jigjiga, Ethiopia

Job Summary:

The WASH Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of the WASH program activities, including planning, management, and monitoring of these activities. Responsibilities include overall operation of WASH projects such as site assessment, site identification, redesign of water systems, design of water systems, preparation of BoQ, specifications, and drawings. Reporting to the Field Program Coordinator.

Skills and Educational Background:

  • Minimum university degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Water Supply Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Three years of work experience in WASH for degree holders, two years for MSc holders, preferably in a humanitarian setting (refugee camps, rural development, or emergency response).
  • Competent in using Windows and other engineering software: AutoCAD, Hydraulics software such as Epanet, WaterCAD, and GPS.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a potentially unstable security environment.
  • Flexible and willing to travel and live temporarily in harsh environments.
