The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) invites qualified and competent applicants to apply for the following vacant position:

Position: Senior WaSH Engineer

Job Summary:

Under the general direction and supervision of the WaSH Manager, the Senior WaSH Engineer is responsible for:

  • Conducting needs assessments of WaSH facilities infrastructure.
  • Performing feasibility surveys, developing bills of quantity, specifications, and implementation schedules for WaSH project activities.
  • Monitoring and supervising the WaSH activities implemented in different branches.
  • Providing technical support and suggestions to implementing branches.
  • Timely reporting on the implementation of WaSH project activities.
  • Preparing detailed designs for the rehabilitation of existing water sources and the development of new water sources and subsequent infrastructure.
  • Ensuring the completion of WaSH project activities within the timeframe and allocated budget.

Details of the Position:

  • Work Unit: Disaster Risk Management Department
  • Reports to: Health and WaSH Division
  • Terms of Employment: One-year contract
  • Place of Work: Addis Ababa
  • Salary: Negotiable

Skill and Educational Background:

  • MSc/BSc in hydraulics, irrigation, water resources, or other water-related engineering disciplines.
  • Proven practical experience in the planning and execution of WaSH projects for at least 6/8 years.
  • Experience working with rural development projects, preferably in large water and sanitation or related projects.
