Position Description:
The intern will support the implementation of TechnoServe’s CREW Project activities at cooperative and private wet mills in the operating areas of Sidama and Oromia (West Guji Zone).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of CREW Project activities at cooperative and private wet mills.
- Work closely with TechnoServe Business Advisor (BA) / Associate Business Advisor (ABA) and support them while learning about wet mill operations and stakeholder relations.
- Assist in conducting trainings for wet mill staff and leaders on sustainability standards and coffee quality control.
- Follow up on the implementation of sustainability standards and support wet mills in adopting these standards.
- Aid in providing training activities at wet mills, including audit trainings, SWOT analysis, and feedback delivery.
- Ensure timely preparation of wet mills for audits and communicate this to the Project Manager (PM).
- Participate in providing technical support to wet mill clients under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Meet with cooperatives and private wet mill owners and staff to provide day-to-day operational support.
- Learn from BAs and assist in the implementation of CREW wet mill activities.
- Submit weekly reports and work plans to the Senior Business Advisor (SBA).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the SBA.
Skills and Educational Background:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Plant Science, Horticulture, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
Required Skills:
- Willingness to be based in remote locations in the Sidama Region and Oromia Region.
- Interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Planning skills and ability to adhere to strict time-guidelines.
- Fluency in Amharic and Sidamigna for Sidama Region.
- Fluency in Afan Oromo for Oromia Region.
- Proficiency in English (oral and written presentation skills).
- Willingness to obtain a motorcycle driving license and the ability to ride.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with the Sidama areas for the Sidama project.
- Familiarity with the Guji areas for the Oromia West Guji project.
