Position: Driver

Background / General Description:

The World Bank, Ethiopia Country Office, seeks a highly organized and energetic professional to work as an Admin Assistant. The Driver role involves providing driving and messenger services to management, operations, administrative staff, consultants, experts, and staff on missions.

Duties and Accountabilities:

The Driver will be responsible for:

  • Driving Country Office and Visiting Missions staff to meetings, field trips, and airport pick-up/drop-off.
  • Delivering mail and documents in and around Addis Ababa.
  • Maintaining the vehicle road logbook, checklist of spares, and ensuring care and accountability.
  • Returning keys to the safe, reporting any unusual vehicle occurrences to the supervisor.
  • Tracking service, insurance, and registration dates and alerting the supervisor.
  • Reporting accidents to the police and supervisor, ensuring vehicle cleanliness, and official use only.
  • Performing other administrative and logistical duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria:

Desirable Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of driving experience, with defensive driving skills preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driving license.
  • Excellent knowledge of road safety, good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of UN security procedures is advantageous.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends.

Committed team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural/disciplinary environment, producing high-quality work under pressure.

Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, they will retain their appointment. Others will be offered a 2-year term appointment.
