Background:
UNDP’s Governance work aims to ensure that accountable, inclusive, and effective governance underpins sustainable development. In Ethiopia, UNDP’s focus is on supporting democratic governance, peacebuilding, and rule of law initiatives. Despite progress, Ethiopia faces political, social, and economic challenges, including violent conflict and crises. UNDP is committed to supporting efforts to address these challenges and promote peace, stability, and development.
Objective:
The UNDP Ethiopia Country Office, Democratic Governance and Peacebuilding Unit, seeks an intern to support its work in Addis Ababa. The internship provides an opportunity for graduate-level students to gain practical experience in UNDP’s community and mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support project implementation and tracking of results.
- Collect and analyze information on governance and peacebuilding issues.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and analytical pieces.
- Contribute to strategic partnerships and resource mobilization.
- Support working relationships with UNDP units and partners.
- Assist in planning meetings, preparing briefs, and managing calendars.
- Facilitate knowledge management and provide administrative support.

- Enrolled in a postgraduate degree program.
- Field of study related to the internship.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to commit to a 6-month internship.
- Interest in governance, peacebuilding, and rule of law issues.
Other Requirements:
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
- Positive response to feedback and diverse viewpoints.
- Fluency in oral and written English required; knowledge of another UN language desirable.
Internship Details:
- Monthly stipend provided.
- Intern responsible for expenses and medical insurance.
- Not eligible for UNDP staff positions during internship.
