The International Organization for Migration (IOM) invites qualified and competent applicants to apply for the following vacant positions:

1. National Programme Officer – Gender Based Violence (GBV)

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Position Grade: NOA
Type of Appointment: Six months, with possibility of extension
Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Summary:

IOM Ethiopia’s Protection Unit works closely with the Government of Ethiopia and various stakeholders to address the needs and uphold the rights of individuals and their communities. The successful candidate will support the planning, budgeting, implementation, liaison, communications, and reporting for IOM Ethiopia GBV interventions across different programming areas.

Skill and Educational Background:

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or a Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.
  • Experience:
  • Experience working on Protection, GBV programming, and/or with vulnerable individuals or communities in an emergency or post-conflict environment.
  • Experience in humanitarian and/or development programming relating to migration, refugee, and internally displaced persons (IDP) issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in GBV case management, including capacity building, supervision, and coaching of caseworkers, and development and revision of technical tools.
  • Experience in conducting ethical and safe assessments, data collection, and information-sharing.
  • Track record of effective working relationships with UN, government, and non-government partners and communities.
  • Experience in gender transformative programming, project management, results-based management, and MEAL is an asset.
  • Working experience in conflict and post-conflict areas is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, and diplomatic skills.
  • Ability to apply key protection and GBV resources.
  • Ability to lead capacity building on GBV topics.
  • Solid reporting and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Amharic (oral and written) is required.
  • Working knowledge of other local languages spoken in Ethiopia is an advantage.

2. Senior Medical Assistant-Data Analyst

Position Title: Senior Medical Assistant-Data Analyst

Type of Appointment: One Year Fixed Term, with possibility of extension

Job Summary:

The Senior Medical Assistant oversees the Call Centre and Data Processing/Registration teams in the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC). The role involves performing routine administrative functions, handling inquiries, and providing refugee/immigrant assistance.

Skill and Educational Background:

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Statistics, or related fields with at least four years of relevant working experience; or a Secondary School Diploma with at least six years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience:
  • Managing large dynamic teams, with a customer service, IT, or administrative background.
  • Knowledge of data management principles and customer care.
  • Certification in IT/Data entry is an advantage.
  • High computer literacy in Windows and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience with NGOs or international organizations is an added advantage.

Skills:

  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Effective managerial and leadership skills.
  • Analytical skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Fast and accurate typing.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Working knowledge of other Ethiopian local languages is an advantage.
