Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1982 to assist people with disabilities in refugee camps in Cambodia and Thailand. Open Positions:
1. Community Liaison (EORE & NTS) Team Supervisor
Location: South Tigray, Ethiopia
Overall Purpose
To supervise and ensure the application of required procedures and technical skills in implementing Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) activities. Provide timely reports and corrective measures to the Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist the HMA Manager in identifying areas for NTS processes through desk studies.
- Assist in planning Community Liaison tasks.
- Implement NTS processes in compliance with SOPs and guidelines, including desk research, interviews, focus group discussions, key stakeholder interviews, and reporting.
- Supervise and ensure compliance with timelines, deadlines, quality standards, and SOPs for HMA teams.
- Identify training and capacity-building needs for HMA teams.
- Follow all safety SOPs and report security changes to the HMA Manager and Safety team.
- Establish and maintain relations with UNMAS, EMAO regional and local authorities, and communities.
- Communicate with security stakeholders in the areas of operations.
- Maintain equipment in good condition and report any damage to the HMA Manager.
- Report activities to the HMA PM using statutory formats.
- Support and deliver EORE/NTS training, including refreshers.
- Comply with HI Code of Conduct (CoC).
Job Qualification
Education:
- University or college degree in social science or relevant field.
Languages:
- Fluency in spoken English and local language (Tigrigna) is required.
Essential:
- Certificate/Accreditation in Non-Technical Survey Training by a recognized INGO.
- Certificate/Accreditation in EORE Training by a recognized INGO.
- At least 4 years of proven experience in EORE and NTS implementation.
- Fluency in English and Amharic.
- Experience in managing sensitive information.
- Previous experience in conducting interviews and surveys.
- Basic knowledge of IM/GIS or experience using Google Earth.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team.
Desirable:
- Good knowledge of local communities in the Tigray region.
- Excellent computer skills.
2. Community Liaison (EORE & NTS) Officer
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Overall Purpose
To assist in the implementation of Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) activities. Provide support to the Community Liaison (EORE & NTS) Team Supervisor and ensure compliance with HI standards and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Team Supervisor in the identification of areas for NTS processes.
- Assist in planning NTS & EORE tasks.
- Identify and mobilize local targeted communities for NTS tasks based on reported suspected hazardous areas.
- Implement NTS & EORE processes in compliance with relevant SOPs and guidelines, including desk research, individual interviews, focus group discussions, key stakeholder interviews, and reporting.
- Provide basic risk education to affected communities and recommend advanced risk education intervention by the Risk Education team when needed.
- Deliver EORE ToT to Community Focal Points (CFPs).
- Conduct explosive ordnance risk education activities and sessions.
- Deliver EORE training alongside other HI/HMA activities in the communities, ensuring close coordination, collaboration, and programmatic synergies.
- Follow all safety SOPs and communicate any change in the security situation to the Team Leader and HI Safety unit.
- Establish and maintain working relations with local authorities and communities.
- Carry out responsibilities as per the approved NTS and EORE SOPs.
- Report activities to the Team Leader using agreed formats.
- Comply with HI Code of Conduct (CoC).
