The African Union (AU), a Pan-African continental body dedicated to Africa’s integration and sustainable development, is inviting applications for its Internship Program in 2024. The program aims to provide administrative and technical support for the implementation of AU programs, projects, and activities. Interns will assist in various departments and directorates of the African Union, helping to implement and support AU programs and activities.
Position: Internship
Eligibility Requirements:
- Education: Must be actively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program or have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or an advanced/postgraduate (Masters) qualification in a related field.
- Experience: Prior work experience is not required.
- Nationality: Must be nationals of a Member State of the African Union.
- Student Status: Must be full-time students currently enrolled in the final year of their Bachelor’s or graduate school program.
- Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in at least one of the AU working languages (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
- Age: Must be no more than 32 years of age at the time of selection.
- Conduct: Must possess the highest standard of moral conduct and integrity and have not been convicted of any serious criminal offence excluding minor traffic offences.
Terms and Conditions:
- Financial Obligation: The AU will not provide financial compensation. Interns are responsible for their travel arrangements, accommodation, and living expenses.
- Visa Assistance: The AU will assist with entry and residence visas.
- Compensation: No compensation for travel.
- Duration: The internship is for three months, renewable once.
- Insurance: Interns must have individual insurance coverage for the duration of the internship.
Job Requirements:
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with e-mail and internet applications.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency in one AU official working language (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, Kiswahili); fluency in another AU language is an added advantage.
