Background:

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a renowned German implementing organization dedicated to international cooperation for sustainable development. Operating in over 120 countries worldwide, GIZ aims to shape a future worth living. The GIZ Office in Addis Ababa oversees projects in Ethiopia and Djibouti, working on behalf of various German federal ministries and other commissioning parties.

Program Description:

The Better Migration Management III (BMM III) Programme seeks to enhance human-rights based management of safe, orderly, and regular migration while addressing trafficking in human beings and the smuggling of migrants within and from the Horn of Africa region. Coordinated by GIZ, the program is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Commission. It involves an Implementing Partnership comprising IOM, UNODC, CIVIPOL, British Council, and GIZ, with intervention partner countries including Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and Uganda.

Position Summary:

The internship position offers an opportunity for candidates to gain practical experience in the field of law or social sciences within a dynamic international cooperation environment. The selected intern will support various tasks related to program implementation and administrative functions.

Skill and Educational Background:

  • University Degree in Law or any Social Science field.

Professional Experience:

  • No previous working experience required.
  • Good working knowledge of English.

Additional Competencies:

  • Proficiency in ITC technologies and computer applications (MS Office).
  • Strong self-organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated discipline and punctuality.
  • Ability to greet guests and visitors warmly.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and data protection guidelines.
