Position: Health Specialist (Community Newborn and Child Health)

Location: Addis Ababa

Duration: Temporary Appointment (364 days)

Job Description:

1. Support to Programme Development and Planning:

  • Contribute to the preparation, design, and updating of the situation analysis for the health sector.
  • Work on the zero-dose agenda in Ethiopia, collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Provide technical and operational support for the integration and harmonization of health-related programs.

2. Programme Management, Monitoring, and Delivery of Results:

  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises and annual sectoral reviews.
  • Prepare regular reports for management, donors, and partners.
  • Provide technical and operational support for program implementation.

3. Networking and Partnership Building:

  • Prepare communication and information materials for program advocacy.
  • Build partnerships/alliances and support fundraising for health programs.

4. Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building:

  • Contribute to innovation and knowledge management in health programs.
  • Build capacity through training and development initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced university degree in public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in public health/nutrition planning, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
  • Experience in a developing country is an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or similar international organizations is considered as an asset.
  • Previous experience in grant management at the national scale is a requirement.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and Amharic required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, or Russian) is an asset.
